Safety Wire and Borescopes

Especially as an aircraft owner, you need to be familiar with FAR Part 43, which governs aircraft maintenance. It's important to know what you, as a non-certificated aircraft mechanic, can and cannot do with your airplane.

FAPA member and Bonanza owner Ben Amen will walk us through this all-important regulation, and demonstrate some of the things that you can do with your airplane.

He'll cover the FAA Safety Team's Topic Of The Month, on the subject of safety wire methods and equipment. Then he'll discuss borescopes, and how to conduct a thorough borescope inspection of an aircraft engine cylinder. Next, we'll get hands on, and demonstrate and practice safety wire and borescope techniques on actual aircraft components.
