Aerodynamics Nice and Slow
A Deep Dive Into the Aerodynamics at the Bottom of the Airspeed Indicator
Tuesday, August 18, 2026, starting at 7:00 pm
Student pilots are taught some basic aerodynamics and then are taught how to perform slow flight and stall maneuvers for their checkrides. In this presentation, we'll take a deeper dive into the aerodynamics of slow flight, stalls and spins, correlating this science with real flight scenarios. You'll see what a spin looks like from the pilot's perspective and learn techniques to avoid inadvertent spins and other loss of control accidents and why upset recovery training is beneficial.
Our speaker is Master CFI-Aerobatics Rochelle Oslick, who instructs in UPRT at CP Aviation in Santa Paula. She owns and flies a Christen Eagle and probably has as many flight hours in unusual attitudes as most of us have in straight and level flight!
At 6:00 pm there will be a dedication ceremony at the Fullerton Flight Center (Former AFI Building) with a plaque dedicated to the contributions to Fullerton Airport by AFI and the Griggs family.
A bratwurst or hot dog dinner will also be served starting at 6PM. Come early for some hangar chatter before the meeting gets going!
