Talking to Communicate
Understanding ATC Communications is Important in our Busy SoCal Airspace
Tuesday, September 15, 2026, starting at 7:00 pm
Hangar 21 - 3815 W Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton
Speaker: Gary Palmer, CFI
Knowing what to say, communicating what you know, and understanding what you hear, is critical to being a pilot. Many pilots use archaic or local terminology for communicating, which can fail when flying at other destinations. The FAA has evolved a language glossary to add safety and comprehension to our radio calls. Material is presented as scenarios to inspire discussion. Remember, terminology is key to unlock all your resources!
Our speaker is Gary Palmer, a Torrance based CFI, FAASTeam Representative, and member of the Torrance FAA Runway Safety Team.
A bratwurst or hot dog dinner will also be served starting at 6PM. Come early for some hangar chatter before the meeting gets going!
